Info & Tips:
We highly recommend that you take care of Power Raking at least once every year. Thatch is the accumulation of dead decomposing grass plants. Small amounts of thatch, in the range of 1-4 to 1-2 inch, can improve wear tolerance & surface resiliency, & reduce water loss & soil temperature fluctuations.
Thicker layers, particularly beyond an inch, often cause serious problems if not attended. Excessive thatch reduces the effectiveness of fertilizers, watering & pest controls & provides a good habitat for disease & insects.
Power Raking should only be done in mid spring (by late May) since damage is done to the lawn & there needs to be recovery time before there are extreme summer weather conditions.
We Power Rake the entire lawn area, walking back & fourth in a similar pattern to mowing (grass cutting) the lawn. This brings the excess thatch (dead dry grass) to the surface. Then we hand rake or blow all the dead grass & haul it to a disposal site. Finally we blow all debris off your sidewalks, walkways, & driveway.
The benefits of Power Raking are increased effectiveness of fertilizers, watering & pest controls. It allows you to better see & address bare spots on your lawn that need soil & seeding. It frees up more surface area on your lawn allowing new grass to grow. It last but not least promotes a thicker & healthier lawn.
